Custom Meat Processing
Welcome to Hurdwell, your trusted partner in custom meat processing.
Submit Your Cut Sheet ONLINE by clicking the links below: Call (567)245-5614 during business hours if you need help. Be sure to submit BEFORE your animal harvest date. Your meat should be ready within 14-18 days of the harvest.
Pickup Notification: Once your meat is ready, we’ll notify you with a call, email & text for pickup at our shop located at 526 N. Main St., Arlington, OH 45814. You do not need to bring coolers, as we provide cardboard boxes for you to take home with you. Please note that a holding fee of $10 per day applies if the meat is not picked up within 3 business days. After 30 days, the deposit is forfeited due to limited freezer space.

- Monday through Friday: 10 AM – 6 PM
- Saturday: 9 AM – 4 PM
Selecting Cuts:
Butcher’s Choice Package: If unsure about the cuts, opt for this package which includes standard cuts similar to those found in grocery stores.
Submission Deadlines: Cut sheets must be submitted PRIOR TO the harvest date. Late submissions will default to the Butcher’s Choice package.

FAQs
What Does Hurdwell Charge for Custom Processing?
- Hurdwell charges by the pound ($1.00/lb. for Beef; $1.15/lb. for hogs & lambs), & also charges a kill/waste fee, which differs according to species ($200/head for Beef; $100/head for Hogs & Lambs). For every add-on service (pattying, linking, slicing, curing, smoking & seasoning), there are slight per-pound upcharges. If you have no add-ons, you have no additional fees.
How much meat will I receive & how is my meat packaged?
- The amount of meat depends on fat content, time of year & cuts selected. From the hanging weight, you can expect to take home approximately 50-60% of actual meat after processing. For example, on a whole steer with a live weight of 1,200 pounds, the hanging weight might be around 720 pounds & the meat you take home will mostly likely range from between 360 to 432 pounds. We only vacuum pack here at Hurdwell.
Pickup Details:
- Meat must be picked up within THREE (3) business days of notification. A daily holding fee applies after this period. For pickup, check in at the retail counter, complete payment (if you haven’t already paid) & we will bring your meat to your car in cardboard boxes that you get to take home.
Freezer Space Needed:
- Plan for 1 cubic foot of freezer space for every 35-40 lbs. of meat. For example, half a beef requires at least 10 cubic feet of space.
Meat Shelf Life in Freezer:
Frozen meat is safe indefinitely at 0°F, but quality diminishes over time. Here’s how long different meats last in the freezer:
- Bacon & Sausage: 1-2 months
- Steaks & Chops: 6-12 months
- Pork Butt or Roast: 4-12 months
- Whole Chicken or Turkey: 1 year
- Cut Chicken or Turkey: 9 months
- Ground Meat: 3-4 months
